Are walking less often or shorter distances because
of pain
You may have either had or currently
have one of the following conditions:
Hip Osteoarthritis: This
condition is a common problem for many middle aged people.
It is caused by the wearing away of the cartilage that
is on the end of each bone. As the cartilage wears away
the two bones rub together, which produces pain and
inflammation. Bone spurs may develop which can also
limit how far the hip can move. The pain and stiffness
are worse in the morning and after prolonged standing
or walking.
Hip Fracture: If you
have had surgery for a hip fracture you will need physical
therapy to relieve the pain, stiffness and weakness
from your immobilization and to restore your normal
gait.
Greater Trochanteric Bursitis:
The greater trochanter is the large bump on the outside
of the upper end of the thigh bone. You can feel it
on the outside of your hip. Where friction occurs between
muscles tendons and bones there is usually a structure
called a bursa, which is a thin sac of tissue that helps
reduce this friction. Sometimes this bursa becomes inflamed
because of too much friction or because of an injury
to it. Most cases of trochanteric bursitis appear gradually.
The pain can be very sharp and is localized primarily
to the outside of the hip. The pain may radiate down
the outside of the thigh.
Physical therapy is essential to the treatment,
rehabilitation, and prevention of many of the conditions
that affect the hip and its surrounding supporting structures.
At ProFitness, your key advantage
is our 100% focused, one-on-one care
We are committed to giving 100% of our expertise and
effort to every hip injury patient at all times. This
means that your dedicated physical therapist works one-on-one
with you through every minute of every rehab session
– providing expert assessment and guidance, and
constant encouragement and support.
In other rehab facilities, you may not
always work with the same physical therapist, or you
may work with a PT assistant instead. And often, your
therapist may work with several other patients at the
same time. These factors can make it difficult to get
the level of care you need to achieve a full and fast
recovery.
That’s why our rehab care is always
provided ONE therapist to ONE patient. ONE at a time.
EVERY TIME. It’s the ProFitness AdvantageSM. And
it’s what helps us achieve such excellent results.

| “I could hardly move
after falling and hurting my hip and back. Sitting,
standing and other basic movements were excruciating.
After several visits to ProFitness, my pain was
under control and I was even able to exercise again.
My therapist was very knowledgeable about which
exercises and stretches would help my situation,
and I felt very confident as a result.”
